efa’s for skin health

It all begins with an idea.

Why are Essential Fatty Acids “essential” for healthy skin?

EFA’s are a building block of the cell wall for every cell in the body.

The cell wall keeps cellular fluid inside the cell walls, and prevents unwanted matter from entering.

EFA’s are not produced within the body, and must be introduced by diet (oily fish, eggs, butter, avocados, olive oil, nuts) and Supplements.

Once a skin cell matures and breaks down, the Essential fatty acids that made up the cell wall remain in the skin layers to create the acid mantle.

The acid mantle is the protective layer of the skin, it prevents Water loss - keeping skin well hydrated.

Most people assume that if their skin is dehydrated, its due to the amount of water we drink, however, water in the skin only accounts for about 13% of our skins hydration.

The main cause of dehydrated skin is a weakened Acid Mantle.  And how to we re-build and strengthen our acid mantle?

By providing skin cells with strong cell walls! And how do we produce cells with healthy cell walls?  We ensure that we are consuming adequate amounts of Essential fatty acids.

A weakened acid mantle and dehydration has a domino effect on a whole range of skin disorders including:

Skin feeling tight, taut, flaky and rough
Dehydration lines
Skin irritation
Dull skin
Uneven skin tone
Hyperpigmentation
Redness
Skin feeling heat
Rashes/itchy skin
Breakouts/acne-prone skin
Sensitivity or inflamed skin
A delayed wound healing response
Bacterial or fungal infections like peri dermatitis
Make Rosacea and eczema more  severe

If you are experiencing any of the above skin conditions, you may well be lacking in Essential Fatty Acids.

I’m working hard to educate and empower my clients with all of the skin truths and facts.

I would love to hear from you today if you would like to begin your journey to skin health. Mel

winter skin

It all begins with an idea.

Winter is not just about cosy firesides and fluffy slippers; it's a constant battle of hot & cold for your skin too. The cold air outside and heating indoors can dehydrate your skin, leading to dullness and discomfort.

WINTER SKIN WONDERS

Imagine a winter's tale where your skin is the star - glowing, hydrated, and utterly radiant. Your skin doesn't just have to endure the cold - it can flourish.

By choosing the right skincare for the season, you’re not just caring for your skin; you're ensuring your skin's story is one of radiance and resilience. Embrace the season with our specially selected winter skincare essentials below:

ENVIRON SUPER MOISTURISER

Designed to lock in moisture and improve the overall appearance of the skin, this luxe cream contains a dynamic blend of moisturisers and emollients. Vitamins and antioxidants enhance protection from the effects of free-radical damage, resulting in skin that feels taken care of and refreshed.

This is a product you will always want to keep in your cabinet.  I reach for it on the days I need that extra moisture boost, or if I'm exercising and know I'll be washing my face shortly.

Pre-cleanse, cleanse and tone with your preferred Environ products. Apply your recommended Environ vitamin A moisturiser. Follow with Super Moisturiser+ and apply to your face, neck and décolleté for more effective hydration results.

VITAMIN AC&E BODY OIL

It’s like a comforting blanket for your skin, a luxurious oil blend that deeply nourishes and rejuvenates tired winter skin leaving it supple, radiant and simply glowing.

Combine with Derma-lac for a soothing body treatment, or add a drop to your moisturiser to pump up skin nutrition.

DERMA-LAC LOTION

A winter busting, ultra hydrating lotion that gently exfoliates and moisturises, revealing smoother, more luminous skin.

It’s a “must have” beauty treatment for smoothing body skin and treating rough, dry skin on areas such as feet, elbows and knees. It can also be used for sun-damaged or congested skin on all areas of the body.

For best results, use in combination with AC&E Body Oil

SIMKA ALPHA OMEGA

Not only does Omega 3 improve skin barrier function, sealing in moisture and keeping out irritants, it can help you beat the winter blues!

One study from the University of Pittsburgh found that people with higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids were less likely to experience moderate or mild symptoms of depression.

I prefer the liquid formula straight from the dropper, however you may prefer the capsule. Both options are available in salon.
